Information technology, internet law and e-commerce
The Information technology has revolutionised the way of doing business. On one side, innovative means of telecommunication, on the other side the electronic commerce, have led the lawyer to understand how existing rules could be applied to new matters or to draft new types of agreement to meet the need of the operators. Concerning the e-commerce, legal advice is often asked about time and place of execution of a contract (via email or via web), choice of forum, consumer protection, domain names registration and disputes, payments online, direct taxation and applicability of VAT within the EU and extra EU, conflicts with commercial distributors operating in an exclusive area, and, not least fiscal incentives. Moreover, the e-commerce has raised complementary issues like those concerning digital signature, banner or links agreement and protection of privacy.
With regard to new means of telecommunication, the Firm has been involved in managing and drafting agreements between groups of companies and public authorities for telecommunication systems. The Firm has always been keen on new technologies and they still represent one of our most followed sectors.
